Celebrating at my local Warung (Cafe)

A sea of red, an infusion of love was overflowing with a strength of power. Surrounding me was a bevy of beautiful women. These women are my hero’s. Mostly Indonesian, they are a group of strong feminine women who untie with love and care, the location is on the magical Island of Bali.

The occasion was a collaboration organised by the Ubud Ladies Champagne Club who planned with myself to showcase my memoir in true Balinese pizazz and glamour, with the direction to wear only red and gold.

The Golden Monkey Restaurant did not disappoint. The delectable feast of authentic Chinese speciality dishes just kept coming, six courses of culinary dishes cooked to perfection and ready for Royalty.

As usual I was swept away by the warmth radiating from the women at our gatherings. For me the occasion was a special one as I was truly ready to celebrate the success of my epic memoir Scarlett Voices In The Shadows.

It has certainly been a very busy time getting Scarlett polished and ready for publication, then ready for her debut to venture out into the big wide connected world we occupy.

How generous that all 17 ladies purchased a copy of Scarlett Voices In The Shadows. I will be forwarding 50% of the sales to a Children’s charity in Bali.

The morning started normally, my husband and myself walked through the monkey forest with our two dogs. We prayed, we ate breakfast and then it was time to get ready. Counting my blessings to be able to be fully pampered in true Balinese style, I felt relaxed and happy.

It was only when I was putting on my Scarlett dress that it dawned on me that I am actually a published author. It suddenly dawned on me that I am not only a published author, I am recognised.

Being recognised to me is not being written up in posh literary columns or receiving awards, it is being sent emails of thanks and congratulations.

Being acknowledged by my peers that they loved Scarlett’s journey and could not put her down. Being told by both men and women that I have inspired them to follow their true path and keep striving for what is right.

This morning as I sit at my local Warung drinking Bali Coffee as I write this article, I am celebrating me. I am celebrating the first day of my life as a writer and a published author. I am celebrating turning a lifelong dream into a reality.

Now lets face it guys, if I can do it after all the obstacles thrown my way, then so can you.

Blessings always,

Sharon x

Scarlett Voices In The Shadows Melbourne Launch 12 October, 2016

I am sitting at my desk in my Bali home and trying to digest what has transpired in the last week. The launch of my memoir Scarlett Voices In The Shadows was held in front of 300 people at the Australian Services Union delegates conference in Melbourne, Australia. See link for live stream.

The response after my speech was incredible. Big tough Union men were coming up to me telling me they had tears in their eyes. What really blew me away though was when I looked in front of me and noticed readers lining up to buy Scarlett and waiting for me to sign her. How fortunate I was to have had the support of my Son, Sister and best friend who where working hard to assist with the sales.

Both Men and women were waiting to buy Scarlett, some of who where purchasing two books at a time. That was last Wednesday in Australia. In only one week I have had an overwhelming response to my memoir, I have been receiving messages from readers that they cannot put her down. Devouring Scarlett Voices In the Shadows in record timing. Here are just two reviews below,

Sharon Karyasa, the book has made me feel like I’m taking a stroll through my own childhood and early 20s actually. Australia in the 70s and 80s, family violence, family life, Dad ruling the roost, Dad’s muscles and tattoos, the TV shows, getting boobs, the insecurities, the responsibility of being the eldest child, leaving school too young, sneaking in to the disco under age, boys, boys, boys, first job, saving for my first car, Bali (I stayed at the Ramayana too!!!!) working around Europe, crazy, passionate flings, drugs, alcohol, crazy adventures we were lucky to survive, and being that uncertain young girl from the land of Oz at a time Australia was ‘coming of age’ globally.

and

OMG… what an amazing story Sharon Karyasa. I remember you telling me some of your stories over a glass of Sav Blanc. What an inspiration you are. I’ve been reading all day…up to Chapter 26!!

I have just received an email from Dymocks in Waurn Ponds, Victoria that they have almost sold out for the second time. Readings in Carlton Melbourne are also receiving phone calls to put aside a copy for readers to collect or for them to post anywhere in Australia.

I am spellbound by the news that Scarlett has been printed and sent to Japan and Finland. Scarlett Voices In The Shadows is available through Amazon World Wide, although it is important to check the Author as Sharon Karyasa before ordering.

Today is Thursday in Bali. With the help of a dynamic business women and woman’s network group, I am re-launching Scarlett Voices In The Shadows next Wednesday 26 October at an exclusive new Chinese restaurant called the Golden Monkey in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.

This is amusing to me as my blog is called monkeybusinesswhispers because of the inspiration from the location where I live close to the magical Sangeh Monkey forest.

I promise I will keep you updated on the journey of Scarlett, I feel so much love at the moment.

I am sending you a ray beam of rejuvenation, sunshine and hope.

Blessings always

Sharon
